U.S. Soccer, Austin FC, and the City of Austin announced today that Q2 Stadium in Austin will play host to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s World Cup Qualifying match on Thursday, October 7, 2021, against Jamaica. The October 7 event will be the first time the U.S. Men’s National Team plays a World Cup Qualifier in the state of Texas.
The historic match will be the USMNT’s fourth match of the re-formatted final round of the CONCACAF qualification cycle featuring eight (8) national teams in the final round that each play 14 matches – seven (7) at home, seven (7) away. The top three (3) finishers in the “Octagonal” will automatically qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and the fourth-place finisher will be entered into an inter-region playoff.

The team was edged 31-24 by Tasman two weeks ago, in their first competitive match in three years, and outclassed 73-0 by the New Zealand Under-20s side on Saturday.
Meanwhile, an understrength Ikale Tahi suffered back-to-back defeats against Manu Samoa in their World Cup qualifier.
Cook Islands coach Nathan Robinson is a former Cook Islands international himself and said the squad has come a long way in the last few weeks. The cohesion has been really really good from day one, he said. In coming together more often the players will get more familiar with each other, knowing each other s work-ons, what their habits are and having these camps has definitely served its purpose and given us a bit of food for thought long term when we do play other tournaments.

The United States Men’s National Team returned to play on Thursday with a matchup against Martinique. Compared to the last game for the stars and stripes, it was a much better performance.
Gregg Berhalter unveiled a new look starting XI for the matchup with seven changes. Matt Turner is one of the few players to stay in the lineup.
Up top Matthew Hoppe makes his national team debut as he will be paired with Daryl Dike up top. Also Gianluca Busio, Cristian Roldan, James Sands, George Bello, and Eryk Williamson entered the starting XI.
