Tiger Woods was driving nearly 90 mph twice the posted speed limit on a downhill stretch of road when he lost control of an SUV outside Los Angeles and crashed in a wreck that left the golf superstar seriously injured, authorities said Wednesday.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva blamed the Feb. 23 crash solely on excessive speed and Woods’ loss of control behind the wheel. The athlete will not face any citations for his third high-profile collision in 11 years.

Tiger Woods was driving at an excessive speed before he crashed his vehicle in February, but authorities don’t know if he was conscious when he lost control of his vehicle that day, the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department announced Wednesday.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Woods was traveling more than 82 mph in a 45-mph zone and instead of braking was actually accelerating prior to impact, according to data received from the black box recorder of Woods’ loaner Genesis SUV.
The world-famous, professional golfer sustained serious leg injuries in a February car crash in the Rolling Hills Estates community of Los Angeles County.

(CN) Los Angeles County officials chalked up the Feb. 23 vehicle crash involving Tiger Woods to speed, revealing the pro golfer was going nearly twice the speed limit when he rolled his SUV.
Woods sustained serious leg injuries in the car accident in the Rolling Hills Estates community of LA County and later underwent surgery.
