NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan, April 26, 2021 (BSS/AFP) – Kazakhstan on Monday rolled out its homegrown coronavirus vaccine, with the Central Asian country’s health minister receiving the jab on live television.
QazCovid-in, also known as QazVac, is a two-shot vaccine that is currently in third stage trials.
The state broadcaster Khabar said that 50,000 doses of the vaccine developed by the state-backed Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems have been distributed across the vast oil-rich country.
Health Minister Alexei Tsoi told Khabar that he felt “well” after receiving his shot and said the government was negotiating with partners in Turkey to produce future batches of the vaccine.

While China s another 9 vaccines are only in the first or second phase of human trials, the data says another 17 vaccines from different parts of the world are in the final Phase III stage, which means these vaccines are likely to be available commercially in the coming months. Prominent among them are Zycov-D from India s Zydus Cadila which is expected to be launched in the coming months and Hyderabad-based manufacturer Biological E s BECOV2, which got final phase trial clearance from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) last week. Serum Institute, in partnership with US-based Novavax is planning to launch a vaccine by September and its entire production and development was supported by Serum. The vaccine will be manufactured in Pune and at a facility serum sold to Novovax in Europe.

Nur-Sultan [Kazakhstan], April 27 (ANI): Kazakhstan has joined the list of countries that have produced and made available their own COVID-19 vaccine.
The country on Monday started administering its COVID-19 vaccine called QazVac.
Health Minister Alexey Tsoy received his first dose of QazVac vaccine in a local outpatient clinic in the capital Nur-Sultan on Monday, Kazinform reported.
After being inoculated in a live broadcast, Tsoy said he feels good, adding they have started vaccinating the public in various parts of the country, Anadolu Agency reported.
Developed by the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems of Kazakhstan, the QazVac vaccine can be stored at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius (35-46 degrees Fahrenheit).
