MUMBAI â The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the illustrious list of jury members for its debut BAFTA Breakthrough India initiative, supported by Netflix Apr. 19. Distinguished professionals from across the film, games and television industries came together to select this yearâs talented honorees. The Jury was chaired by BAFTA Breakthrough India Ambassador, A.R. Rahman.
BAFTA invited candidates from across the country to apply for their flagship talent initiative âBAFTA Breakthrough India.â Due to an overwhelming number of quality applications from the films, games and television industries nationwide, the initiative will recognize not five but 10 emerging Indian talents across the three industries.
Mia Bays
Bays steps into one of the most influential roles in U.K. film, overseeing a fund worth approximately $42 million annually.
The British Film Institute has appointed Mia Bays as director of the BFI Film Fund.
Bays, currently director-at-large of the female-focused Birds Eye View film charity and due to take the position in October, will fill the role left open by Ben Roberts when he was promoted to CEO in early 2020.
The position is one of the key spots in the U.K. film industry, with Bays overseeing a fund worth around £30 million ($42 million) annually, the largest public fund for film.
