Non-profit organization dealing with education policy brings three-legged stool tour to Longview

Non-profit organization dealing with education policy brings three-legged stool tour to Longview Three-legged stool (Source: KLTV) By Arthur Clayborn and Christian Terry | April 19, 2021 at 4:38 PM CDT - Updated April 19 at 4:38 PM LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Raise Your Hand Texas was at Longview High School today. The group is a non-profit foundation that works in policies and advocacy. Today, they had a three-legged stool that represents funding for public schools. School districts are in the middle of doing their budgets for next year and the stimulus money that they are waiting on plays a part in their fiscal budget. “Over 17.9 billion dollars has already been allocated from the federal government and we are just waiting for that money to hit these local school districts so that they can make the right decisions with the right amount of information,” said Robert Long III, Regional Director for Raise Your Hand Texas.

Competitive high schools to see greatest numbers of students return Monday

Sun-Times files A little less than half of Chicago Public Schools students are anticipated to return to classrooms Monday for the start of the fourth academic quarter, when for the first time in 11 months all 515 non-charter schools including high schools will be open for in-person learning. With 36% of high schoolers and nearly half of elementary school students planning to return, CPS could have up to 44% of its 279,000 students at non-charter schools back in classrooms this week. Those 122,000 students would be by far the most since the start of the pandemic, although the 157,000 continuing remotely still represents a number larger than all but 15 districts in the nation.
