ISLAMABAD (APP) - The overall production of petroleum commodities has witnessed an increase of 12.71 percent during the first three quarters of financial year 2020-21 as compared to corresponding period of last year. The Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) products that showed growth including kerosene oil production, which increased by 0.44 percent during the period under review, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported. Similarly, the production of Motor Spirits, High Speed Diesel, Furnace Oil, lubricating oil, jute batching oil, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and petroleum products NO S witnessing increase of 26.10 percent, 20.70 percent, 9.09 percent, 2.93 percent, 4.53 percent, 11.55 percent and 4.59 percent respectively.

Petroleum product sales surge 57pc in April 2021 Business May 5, 2021 KARACHI: Total petroleum products sales increased 57 percent to 1.672 million tons during April 2021 against 1.068 million tons recorded during April 2020, data issued by Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) showed on Tuesday. “The increase was largely on account of April 2020’s low-base because of peak lockdown restrictions implemented during the month,” Yusuf Rehman at KASB Securities said. On a monthly basis, oil marketing companies’ (OMCs) off-take picked up 13 percent supported by a sharp increase in High Speed Diesel (HSD) sales. Total Motor spirit (MS) off-take increased 13 percent to 6.729 million tons during 10MFY21 largely supported by higher vehicle sales, comparatively relaxed Covid-19 restrictions, and increased inter-city transport.

AFP/File Federal Minister for Finance Hammad Azhar on Thursday said Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a reduction in petrol prices. The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs1.79, following which it will be sold at 108.56 per litre from April 16. The premier has also approved reducing the prices of other petroleum products, Azhar said, adding High Speed Diesel (HSD) would be sold at Rs110.76 per litre, after a deduction of Rs2.32. Kerosene, after a reduction of Rs2.06 in its rates, will be sold at Rs80 per litre, while Light Diesel Oil will be available at Rs77.65 per litre.
