With the budget season approaching, schools are trying to decide what they can and can t live without.
Jay Harnack, superintendent of Sublette County School District #1, said the district s finance committee has been thinking about all the options. I think they just sort of sit down and try to come up with a balanced approach that would be as much as possible not impact the classroom. And I think that s what the proposed budget reduction plan reflects, he said.
SWEETWATER COUNTY Band and choir members from Rock Springs High School (RSHS) and Green River High School (GRHS) recently received All-State honors.
According to the Wyoming High School Activities Association, the 2021 All-State Band, All-State Choir and All-State Orchestra event took place January 17-19 in Laramie. Students from all over the state participated three-day event.
GRHS and RSHS students participated in the choir and band competitions, but not in orchestra.

All-State Band
The Johnson County School Board, during the consent agenda portion of their meeting this week, approved indoor track for Buffalo High School for one year.
According to a report from Activities Director Ryan Mader, BHS students were not allowed to combine with Sheridan High School to compete on their indoor track team.
He requested permission from the school board to hire a coach for this season to allow BHS students to compete, and the request was discussed at the meeting.
The Wyoming High School Activities Association granted permission for BHS to compete for this season only.
Mader said eight to 10 student-athletes have been training during the off season in hopes of being allowed to compete this Winter, with possibly more willing to join the team.
The jump ball was done away with this season by the Wyoming High School Activities Association, but that isnât the most notable change to high school basketball in a year tainted by COVID-19.
For the coaches of Jacksonâs boys and girls basketball team, itâs the benches. Six feet separates each seat, which makes taking mental inventory of reserves a bit more difficult.
The days of covering lineup with a few steps while mulling substitutions are gone. âYouâre looking down there for kids to put in, and they might be way down there,â girls coach Jason Huggins said. âSome of that stuff is a little different, but itâs not too bad. It keeps me from yelling, I guess.â
