Harnek Singh is a Punjabi talkback show host at Radio Virsa in Papatoetoe, south Auckland. Six men have appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of an Auckland radio host. Harnek Singh was left in critical condition and needed surgery after he was assaulted outside his home on Glenross Dr, in Wattle Downs, on December 23. Jagraj Singh, Hardeep Singh Sandhu, Jobanpreet Singh, Sarvjeet Sidhu, Jaspal Singh and Gurbinder were charged earlier this year with his attempted murder, and appeared at the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday in front of Justice Simon Moore. They all previously had name suppression but that lapsed on Wednesday.
