Over the course of 2020, the world has gone through the coronavirus pandemic. To keep the public safe, preventative measures have been put in place in the form of mask mandates, stay at home orders, social distancing and limiting the amount of people who can be included in social functions.
For most of the world, this is something that if they got sick they d be able to survive. But there are some in our society who do not have that luxury. There are people who are immunocompromised.

Groups are urging Northwest leaders to act on U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson s infrastructure and Snake River dam proposal.
The plan would breach the four lower Snake River dams to help salmon, whose numbers have dwindled for years. It aims to restore what American Rivers calls in a report out this week, the most endangered river in the country.
Julian Matthews, a Nez Perce tribal member and co-founder of the group Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment, said the dams are harming tribal treaty rights to fish for salmon in the region. We didn t give them up and say, Well yeah, but if there s no fish, then we won t have that right , he said. We said that we have that right, and want to make sure that right is enforced by the federal government and our elected officials.

These are love taps with a rubber mallet on the thick steel fenders of a 1969 American Motors Rebel, an economy mid-size car of its day 52 years ago, and on a 2021 Lexus ES250 all-wheel drive’s fenders, which thump like a thin skin.
Lexus loaned us their modern sedan that runs at the cheaper end of their lineup.
So which weighs more? The steel chrome-bumpered Rebel, or the plastic high-tech ES? Don’t answer yet, because the ES comes with all-wheel drive.

In 2017, USU started offering its drone minor to students and due to high demand, they started working on a major in it as well.
Drones are a growing technology with many uses. As some students at Utah State University started going through the drone minor program, they quicky realized there are many opportunities in the field.
Professor Baron Wesemann, USU Pilot Program Director, has been working towards creating this major option for students.
“Within 24 hours, 11 students signed up for the unmanned aerial systems and for for the aviation operations,” said Wesemann.
Even though this major will be officially offered next fall, two students will be graduating next month with the degree, Spencer Whitehead being one of them.

A senior at Sky View High School scored a 36 on his ACT the highest score possible.
Joseph Marshall, 17, said the first time he took the test he scored a 32. He took the test again in September to try and score a 34 so he could qualify for a full-ride scholarship to Utah State University. When he found out he scored a perfect 36, Marshall said he was surprised.
“I did not expect it to be that high,” he said. “I was expecting I’d get a little bit better, but not all the way.”
