The RCMP and Search and Rescue have been searching for Sinikka Elliott since May 12, according to UBC s sociology department. A member of our faculty, Dr. Sinikka Elliott has gone missing on Salt Spring Island. The Salt Spring RCMP are requesting the public’s help to find her. RCMP.

The original story follows. A UBC professor living on Salt Spring Island has been missing for several days, and her friends and family are worried. Sinikka Elliott was last seen Wednesday morning on the island before going out to run some errands. “The first 24 hours I kept . going like, ‘Oh my gosh like is this really happening?’” said friend and colleague Kerry Greer. “I was really confused, I felt really suspended, like my reality wasn’t the same.”
Salt Spring RCMP say they have located the body of a University of British Columbia professor who had been missing since Wednesday.

- - - Salt Spring Island RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a UBC professor who hasn’t been seen since she left home to do some errands. Police received a report Sinikka Gay Elliott, 51, was missing at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. A search began with police and search-and-rescue personnel. Elliott’s car was located empty about 9:30 p.m. on Juniper Place Road. Both family members and police are concerned for her well-being. Elliott, an associate professor in the sociology department at UBC, is five-foot-three with a slim build and short, dark-brown hair. She was wearing a red sweater, jeans and brown boots.
