Lifeguard shortage could reduce Splash hours They don’t expect it to impact the pool’s summer opening, but Hutchinson city officials said a shortage of lifeguards could result in reduced hours for the Salt City Splash Aquatic Center. “For the first time since the Salt City Splash opened, I’ve had to come to one of these meetings and forecast some issues with staffing this year,” Hutch Rec Director Tony Finlay advised the Hutchinson City Council Tuesday morning. “We’re having a rough time finding enough lifeguards to open.” Finlay said after the meeting that they are still expecting to open for the season as scheduled on May 29.
