Blackburn woman is facing a felony following an incident in Saline County on February 7.
At approximately 4:19 p.m., a Saline County Deputy responded to a residence in the 300 block of West 4th Street in Blackburn in regards to Julie L. Steffens trespassing.
When the deputy arrived he made contact with the owner of the property, who stated that Steffens was not to be on the property. According to the owner of the home, Steffens had freely moved from the residence, at the request of her husband and children, giving up her right as a resident in January 2021.
Steffens fled the residence on foot and was located outside of her apartment where a brief struggle with the deputy ensued before Steffens was placed under arrest.

The site proposed for the facility, near the intersection of N. Front Street and E. Pacific Avenue, is close to 18 acres and will allow for the jail, sheriff s office and parking with additional space available for expansion if necessary.
Processes with the city of Salina are underway for the site to allow construction to begin. We hope to receive some city comments here in the next week or so, Lane said.
Lane said his team has met with a development review team for the city to go over the plans for the facility and that meetings will continue as the project progresses.
Salina man arrested after death of his father

A Salina man died after allegedly being battered by his son Saturday.
Salina police said at at 8:46 p.m. Saturday, officers and Salina Fire Department EMS responded to the 900 block of Mellinger Drive for a report of domestic battery.
Police said information from the scene indicated Chad Eric Jones, 48, of Salina, had battered his 79-year-old father, Carlton Jones and his 78-year-old mother before leaving.
EMS determined Carlton Jones had serious injuries that threatened his life and transported him to Salina Regional Health Center where he was admitted and placed in the intensive care unit.
