New Jersey Devils AHL Team is Moving Back to Utica There will be AHL Hockey at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica next season after all,  and the news comes with some nostalgia. The Utica Comets confirmed Thursday that they have entered into a 10-year agreement with The New Jersey Devils and the Utica Comets to move their AHL team back to Utica, and the request was approved by the AHL Board of Governors. The board also approved the move of Vancouver s AHL team, now the Utica Comets, to Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is about an hour out of Vancouver.

Utica Comets President Robert Esche confirmed on Wednesday that as of right now, Utica does not have an AHL team for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Esche appeared on WIBX s Keeler in the Morning Show on Wednesday. As of right now, we don t know, Esche said. The Comets President said he learned that Vancouver would be pulling out of their agreement with Utica in December. He said he s been looking for a new team affiliation ever since. COVID-19 has robbed many people traditions and celebrations that typically come with graduating from high school and college. These celebrations are milestones in life that one will never be able to replicate. Now, with a decline in COVID-19 infections and increase in vaccine availability, one local college has announced they re going to hold an in-person commencement ceremony. Utica College announced Wednesday that they will be holding their in-person commencement ceremony, but with a new twist. The ceremonies, yes plural, will be held on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Downtown Utica. Due to COVID-19 regulations and capacity restrictions Utica College says they will hold three separate events throughout the day. The celebrations will be broken up by different types of schools at the college. College officials say the ceremonies will take place in the following manner.

Cuomo: Spectators Can Return to Arenas, But Not Utica Sports fans and spectators at other entertainment events can begin returning to enjoy LIVE events, but based on guidelines released by New York State on Wednesday, the initial restart will not include Utica venues like the Adirondack Bank Center and The Stanley. Events will be permitted to allow spectators only if they have a seating capacity of 10,000 or more. This is the first statewide rollout of a plan to allow attendance at LIVE entertainment events. For the initial phase, capacity will be capped at 10-percent. The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, home to Utica Comets and Utica City FC games, among other events, can seat 5,700. Utica s historic Stanley Theatre, meanwhile, can hold a little less than 3,000.
