• Congress last night certified US President-elect Joe Biden s victory after a violent throng of pro-Trump rioters spent hours running rampant through the Capitol.
• A police officer has died from events stemming from yesterday s riots, CNN reports. This brings the death toll to five - one woman was shot dead during the riots and three others died after suffering medical emergencies .
A Killeen-area businessman and Vietnam veteran is back home after battling the coronavirus during the holidays.
Bill Shine, 75, tested positive for the virus Dec. 13, and was quickly admitted to Seton Medical Center-Harker Heights, said his spouse, Jean Shine.
He spent three days in the hospital before being released, but was readmitted to the hospital on Dec. 27 for several more days as his symptoms continued and he had trouble breathing.
Now, he is back home and is better, but still recovering, said Jean Shine in an email to the Herald this week.
âThe Doctor prepared us for baby steps, slow and long recovery.â she said. âHe is on oxygen 24/7 and will be for awhile. It may take a few months but the blood thinners will help dissolve the blood clots in his lungs. He has received so many good wishes and prayers, it lifts his spirts and strengthen him. Red Crescent head creates posts to hire his aides

LAHORE: Pakistan Red Crescent Society Chairman Abrarul Haq has appointed his close aides, who previously worked with him, to especially created posts in the charity organisation.
Jibran Khan, an entrepreneur at Beyond Studios/Beyond Records, has been hired as social media adviser to the PRCS chairman for a monthly salary of Rs150,000. Previously, it was the duties of the communication department to look after the activities without any additional incentives. According to available documents, Jibran Khan runs a production company in the name of Beyond Studios which specialises in music videos, commercials and audio production.

FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - Cases of domestic violence are on the rise during the pandemic.
Governor Kay Ivey recently announced grant funding to help agencies that serve assault victims.
That the much-needed financial support still leaves some of these organizations working with less money than usual.
“This has been a really terrifying year for victims of domestic violence,” Safeplace Executive Director Rachel Hackworth said.
Hackworth said Domestic violence rates across the Shoals are increasing.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex US empire is rapidly expanding, with two palace aides being rehired after losing their jobs when the couple left the UK.
And one of those staff members is a Kiwi, Clara Loughran, who worked as Meghan s aide when she joined the royal family and had previously worked for Prince Harry.
In recent months, Harry and Meghan have made a series of new appointments to head their foundation, Archewell. The couple has also started their own in-house PR brand.
