Lufkin ISD Names New High School Principal
According to a release from the Lufkin ISD, Dr. Andre Emmons has been named the new principal of Lufkin High School. The announcement was made after LHS principal Brandon Boyd resigned his position to become the high school principal at Salado ISD.
Dr. Emmons started his educational career at Lufkin ISD in 2006 when he was the Lufkin High School Assistant Varsity and Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach and teacher. In 2012, he took a position as the Boys’ Head Basketball Coach at Crockett ISD where he was named District Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015. His most recent position was the High School Principal at Diboll ISD where he also held positions as the Girls’ Athletic Coordinator, Campus Testing Coordinator and Truancy Clerk, and Assistant Principal. At Diboll ISD, he received the District Coach of the Year award in 2016 and 2018.

This annual event helping fight heart disease in women through awareness and fitness activities will celebrate its 10th anniversary virtually. Hosted by the Foundation for Black Women s Wellness, Wear Red Day features special guests including cardiologist Dr. Sandy Charles (Novant Health), the Rev. Veloris Brooks (Spirit & Truth Ministries, Milwaukee) and health coach Venus Washington (Venus Inspires), and is hosted by Foundation President Lisa Peyton-Caire. SPOKANE, Wash. Frigid temperatures are in the forecast and the City of Spokane would like those experiencing homelessness to know that services are available to them.
The regional shelter system is adjusting by flexing operations and supplementing with temporary housing options to account for COVID restrictions. A release from the city said the system will create capacity within the shelter system by prioritizing hotel and motel stays for those at the highest risk of COVID.
Shelter providers are assessing their specific populations to coordinate who would be the best candidates for congregate space and hotel options. Those seeing assistance should reach out to a service provider, who will work directly with hotel operators for arrangements.
