Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new $116.5M vaccine incentive program to encourage more Californians to get vaccinated ahead of the state s June 15 reopening. You can watch the announcement live below (Starts at 2:15 pm):
California reported that more than 36 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to date. With the recent expanded eligibility to 12-15-year-olds, California estimates there are now 12 million people who are eligible and have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Officials hope the new plan will encourage those who haven t received the vaccine to go and do so for the chance to win prizes.

Starbucks just announced that starting today wearing masks will be optional for fully vaccinated customers. Keep in mind that this statement will also depend on local regulations. Starbucks joins Trader Joe s and Walmart who also dropped their mask mandates for fully vaccinated shoppers following the CDC guidelines. Meanwhile, CVS, Walgreens and Macy s are currently reviewing their requirements for facial coverings.
The CDC said last week that fully vaccinated people don t have to wear masks or practice social distancing indoor or outdoors except for when in healthcare settings, on public transportation, or in areas where governments require masks. The CDC also said that people will still have to follow workplace and local businesses mask guidance. Here s a full list of stores that have either lifted or are reviewing their mask policies:
