The deadline to apply for food stamp replacement benefits has been extended to Wednesday, the Department of Human Services and Hawaii Emergency Management Agency announced.
Residents who lost food purchased with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits due to recent flooding and landslides can apply for replacement benefits. The amount of the replacement must be equal to the amount of the food loss and not exceeding the amount of the monthly benefit issued to the household, according to a news release.
In addition to the deadline extension, more districts impacted by the flooding have been added to the eligibility list. The Department of Human Services is accepting SNAP replacement benefits applications from the following Maui County districts:
