Dallas-based fast-casual concept Velvet Taco will open downtown at Fifth + Broadwayâs Assembly Food Hall by Mayâs end.
The eatery, which bills itself as offering gourmet tacos, will be joined by a second Velvet Taco in Midtown this fall. The release does not note the specific Midtown location, but
Nashville Business Journal reported last October it will go to 1911 Broadway, which previously featured a since-razed building home to Rack Room and Blue Bar.
The Assembly Food Hall Velvet Taco will offer a menu of tacos on handmade tortillas (including chicken and waffles, spicy tikka chicken, Nashville hot tofu and beer battered cauliflower) sides and scratch-made red velvet cake. In-house created items include slow-roasted rotisserie chicken and pickles.

Officials with Texas-based wine-focused restaurant Sixty Vines announced Tuesday they are planning a May opening in downtown s Assembly Food Hall at Fifth + Broadway.
This will be the first Sixty Vines in Tennessee. Parent company FB Society operates restaurants in Winter Park, Florida, and in Texas cities Plano, Dallas and Houston, according to a release. Terms of its lease and the cost to get operational are not being disclosed.
From its 16,000-square-foot third-floor level space at Fifth + Broadway (at
500 Broadway), Sixty Vines will offer private dining, a greenhouse patio, a full bar and rooftop views overlooking the Ryman Auditorium and Lower Broadway. Sixty Vines will offer more than 60 wines in kegs. Each keg contains about 26 bottles of wine and will be reused to hold approximately 1,500 bottles during its lifespan. Officials with the soon-to-open Assembly Food Hall at Fifth + Broadway have announced its phase one opening will be next Thursday. Phase two will open in May, according to a release.
The food hall is one of the anchors of the downtown-based mixed-use development, which also houses the headquarters-to-be of Alliance Bernstein and the 381-unit The Place residential tower and the National Museum for African American Music. The expansive multi-level dining and entertainment facility will feature more than 25 eateries, multiple bars, two full-service restaurants, live music venues and a rooftop space overlooking Broadway.
Phase one eateries include Cotton & Snow, DeSano Pizzeria, Donut Distillery, NoBaked Cookie Dough, Oke Poké, Smokin Chikin, Thai Esane and Whisk Crepes Café. Also to open are a wine bar offering more than 40 wine choices and a bar serving more than 32 local and national craft beers on draft.
