Oklahoma Hall of Fame names Roscoe Dunjee, Jim Stovall to 2021 class

He chairs the education committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission and serves as local curator of its new history center, Greenwood Rising, which will be dedicated on June 2 as part of the centennial commemoration. He recently published his 10th book, Black Wall Street 100: An American City Grapples With Its Historical Racial Trauma.   In addition, the Tulsa author, attorney and independent consultant was named Thursday to the 2021 class of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.  I am humbled and honored to join the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Much of my work centers on building community through education and shared experiences. That work is its own reward. This added, high-level recognition is like icing on the cake, Johnson said in an email to The Oklahoman. 

Sixth Graders Building Garden At Monroe Middle School

By: Ashlyn Brothers TULSA, Okla. - Some Green Country sixth graders are getting to build a garden that teachers said will have a big impact on their education and their community. The teachers of Monroe Demonstration Academy want their students to return to the classroom, look outside their windows and see a place of beauty and new beginnings.  When kids come back, they re gonna be able to plant, harvest and be able to sell their own produce and really learn where food comes from,” Monroe Demonstration Academy interim principal Rob Kaiser said.  Mallory Timmons is one of the brains behind the Monroe Community Garden, who said it s all part of a three-year plan.

Ali Smith and Ann Abe who delivered meals across the Island as part of the Isle of Wight Community Rail Partnership A FINANCIAL boost of more than £34,000 has been distributed to local charities, community and voluntary groups to support Isle of Wight families struggling due to coronavirus. The Isle of Wight Council says seven applications have been approved - supporting around 1,000 Island families and vulnerable people. Its Connect4communities project is part of the authority s £456,845 Winter Grant Scheme, awarded by the Department for Work and Pensions. Among those to receive cash was the Isle of Wight Community Rail Partnership. It was awarded £8,330 to provide meals.
