Plan For Bone, creating a sheltering atmosphere was imperative. The interior space is reminiscent of a courtyard. The lush garden envelopes the shop and acts as a natural barrier from the surrounding streets while sheltering its inhabitants in the grounded terrace. Interwoven amongst the interior space, the greenery allows guests to enjoy a private moment during their dining experience. Five- meter-high pivoting glass doors welcome visitors to the interior dining space from all three facades. The shop faces the east, allowing sharp rays of sunlight to penetrate through the clear glass doors during the brisk hours of the day. The sunlight also exposes the hues and undulations of the clay walls and uneven surfaces of the terracotta tiles.

Inspired by modern architecture - the triumph of vernacular architecture in Vietnam in the 20th century as well as V60 coffee dripper - logo of the coffee shop, the bespoken concrete breeze blocks, as the accent of the new skin, strategically absorb the context into the building through their hollows. © Chimnon studio Whether they’re the lively living activities of the neighborhood on the ground floor or they’re direct sunlight and natural ventilation, into the common corridor, on the upper floors. The breeze blocks also recall atmosphere of the old Saigon to minimal coffee space.

Sections A 40 meters by 15 meters installation constructed from steel and wrapped with fishing nets weaves through the bamboo roof of the original structure giving shades to the people from the afternoon sun. The net is constantly moving by the wind, so the color red and orange are chosen to give a sense of an organic living creature. © Adisorn Ruangsiridecha One end of the installation is intentionally placed low enough to encourage people to touch and feel the texture the fishing net and think of how a simple material can create such a significant impact.
