Angola Inmate Convicted of Trying to Smuggle Meth into Prison An Angola inmate is facing 10 years to life in prison after being convicted on federal drug charges. According to the United States Attorney s Office, a jury convicted Damione Brock of conspiracy to possess meth with intent to distribute after a two-day trial. He is already serving a prison sentence on state cocaine possession charges. Prosecutors told jurors that Brock used a cell phone smuggled into Angola in an attempt to run his drug operation. DEA agents wiretapped phone lines to intercept calls between Brock and a co-defendant. During one of those calls, Brock arranged to have meth delivered to him inside the state penitentiary. According to DEA agents, two couriers, including a corrections officer at Angola, would make the delivery. DEA tipped off state corrections officials, who arrested the officer and seized the drugs at the prison s gate.
