Slowthai: Tyron
- Credit: Method Records
A year ago, Tyron Frampton was riding high at the NME Awards ceremony, ready to lap up the glory for his gritty, Mercury-nominated debut Nothing Great About Britain, when a drunken, misogynistic and lecherous interview with the host, followed by an ego-fuelled almost-brawl with a punter, left him looking outdated and overhyped.
To his credit, the Northampton-based rapper’s apology was quick and humble, and he’s been staying off the booze while this follow-up was put together, mostly through various Covid lockdowns.
The record’s split in two, the grime star spending most of the first half dabbling in some predictable posturing, provoking and peacocking – including with returning guest Skepta on the ego-trip Cancelled.
Slowthai Posts New Track Thoughts Friday, 18 December 2020
Slowthai has unveiled a new single, Thoughts.
The vicious track was produced by JD. Reid and lands on the Northampton rapper s 26th birthday (December 18). It comes paired with a video viewable below.
Unlike his recent single NHS and Feel Away, Thoughts will not appear on his forthcoming sophomore LP, TYRON , due out on February 5 via Method Records.
Guests set to appear on the follow-up to 2019 s Mercury Prize-nominated Nothing Great About Britain include James Blake, Mount Kimbie, A$AP Rocky, Skepta, and TK.
Earlier in 2020, Slowthai shared the singles BB (Bodybag), Magic and Enemy. He also teamed up with Slaves on the Gorilaz track Momentary Bliss and with Aminé on Disclosure s My High.
