The new year arrived with hope for a variety of reasons, but the New Normal is still normal at least for the time being. But those who love getting out and about in Utah are certainly thinking about returning to some of the things they love and have missed over the 10 months.
On Twitter, I asked locals what they were most looking forward to experiencing once they were vaccinated and COVID numbers dropped to manageable enough levels that activities we used to take for granted can once again take place. Here s just a sampling of those who answered.

Utah Film Center announced today a reimagined format for presenting engaging independent and international films for kids in order to meet the current needs of families and teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tumbleweeds Films For Kids will bring mini festival experiences home through Utah Film Center s streaming platform hosting new films and workshops releasing at the beginning of each month. The first round of Tumbleweeds Films For Kids will be available to stream during the 2021 Sundance Film Festival starting January 29.

There s still a long, cold stretch of winter ahead as we blaze into this new year, and it s going to be easy to start feeling house-bound. Outdoor, family activities in the Utah winter are few and far between, but if you ve never before taken the opportunity to experience the Midway Ice Castles, this tenth anniversary year might be the ideal time to bundle up the whole crew for a magical experience.
The concept was born when Utah resident and founder Brent Christensen built an ice cave for his daughter at their Alpine home, and the spot became a minor tourist attraction. In 2011, Christensen took that idea to Midway, and has since expanded it to additional locations in Colorado, New Hampshire and Wisconsin. Each ice castle is hand built by artists who grow thousands of icicles daily, harvest them and sculpt them into existing ice structures. The process takes two months to complete, resulting in a work of ice art covering nearly an acre and weighing more than 25
