New outdoor scavenger hunt in every Utah county kicked off for summer

There s a new way to explore Utah this Memorial Day weekend. The Utah Natural History Museum kicked off the Explorer Corps Tuesday, a scavenger hunt for markers recognizing iconic natural or cultural history in each of the state s 29 counties. People should experience not just the Mighty Five, but all of the beautiful places off the beaten paths, Utah Office of Tourism Director Vicki Varella said at the kickoff event.  Locals and visitors can find the markers through the Explorer Corp app or through a paper passport found online or at a local library. In Washington County, the metal marker can be found in La Verkin s Confluence Park. 

Utah home prices jump again, hit record sales in April

KSL TV SALT LAKE CITY – A record number of homes sold in Utah during the month of April, even as the median sales price jumped nearly 27% over the last year, according to a report released by the Utah Association of Realtors. Buyers closed on 4,845 homes, the report said, which is the most sales for that month since the association started keeping records in 2003. With such strong activity, by the time a property sale closes, the market may have already moved higher than that sold prices suggests, the April 2021 Monthly Indicators research report said. The median sales price in April climbed to a record high of $425,000. For comparison, the monthly snapshot showed, one year ago, it was $335,000, and in April of 2019, the median home sales price in Utah was $315,000.

Utah attorney Robert J DeBry dies at 85

HOLLADAY Longtime Utah personal injury lawyer Robert J. DeBry died last week in his Holladay home at age 85. Family members say he died of natural causes. DeBry founded Robert J. DeBry & Associates in 1980 and continued to work at the company until the spring of 2020, according to his obituary. DeBry was an advocate for victims of drunk driving and the use of helmets while cycling, creating an initiative Buy a Helmet, Save a Life. The initiative has distributed more than a quarter-million bicycle helmets below costs or as donations in Utah. DeBry was also a supporter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and donated $500 for cases he settled or won, said his obituary. Debry also paid for taxi rides during major holidays to help people get home safely.
