UTAH LAKE â The Utah County Health Department has issued a harmful algal bloom (HAB) warning for a few areas of Utah Lake.
The department announced Monday afternoon that American Fork Marina, Lindon Marina, and Lincoln Beach had reached warning levels of algal blooms.
The marinas are still open for personal watercraft access, but the health department warns that water recreation in the Lincoln Beach area should be avoided.
Algae occurs naturally in bodies of water, but large amonts of cyanobacteria can create HABs especially in the summer.

SALT LAKE CITY The sun may be scorching, but the lake s still cold.
It doesn t take long even for confident swimmers in Utah s reservoirs to succumb to the effects of chilly water, which can cause shock, cramped muscles and difficulty breathing. After five people drowned in a little over a week in the Beehive State, officials are reminding the public of simple steps they can take to save their lives and others while out on the water.
Ty Hunter, state boating program coordinator, said he often hears after a tragedy that the deceased was a good swimmer. But staying afloat in open water is much different than in a pool or even in the ocean.
Tragedy brought two families together in 2020 after they lost their daughters on Utah Lake. Now, the families said they want to prevent future drownings with life jacket stations around the lake.
