Supporters of the United National Congress (UNC) gathered outside the parliament this morning, in support of their political party’s No Confidence Motion against National Security Minister Stuart Young MP.
However, their demonstration was cut short as police stopped the protest and moved them from in front of the Parliament.
They were told they could resume at noon for two hours.

T&T’s silent holocaust: From Ceiba to Chaconia how CEPEP follows ‘Sir’ Woodford’s racist footsteps
In honour of our fifty-eighth Independence anniversary, I visited Woodford Square, aka
The People’s University, where seeds of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence grew. But instead of feeling pride, I felt shame.
Twenty tree stumps, envoys of once stately trees, left to rot without love or dignity illuminated Marcus Garvey’s words:
a people without knowledge of their past… is like a tree without roots’.

Ganja activist: Delays in Cannabis Control Authority control Bill affecting sick people
Marijuana activist Nazma Muller. -
ONE YEAR ago President Paula-Mae Weekes proclaimed as law, a bill passed in Parliament to decriminalise the cultivation and possession of small quantities of marijuana.
But a recent request for a three-month extension by the joint select committee (JSC) charged with scrutinising the Cannabis Control Authority Bill is affecting sick people who need ganja oil urgently, says marijuana activist Nazma Muller.
She told Newsday she will be at Woodford Square in Port of Spain from midday Thursday, streaming live on Facebook as the people voice their opinions on how the legal supply ought to be handled.
