N.K. Jemisin is one of the titans of the sci-fi/fantasy genre, but none of her works have been adapted for the screen as of yet. That's about to change.
Broken Earth trilogy can rest assured. According to Deadline, not only will the books be getting the big screen treatment, but Jemisin herself will be adapting them for Sony Pictures Entertainment and TriStar Pictures, as part of a seven-figure deal.

N.K. Jemisin has already made history by winning three consecutive Hugo awards for each entry in her Broken Earth trilogy:
The Fifth Season,
The Obelisk Gate, and
The Stone Sky. Now, the perhaps inevitable next step is here, with a just-announced big-screen deal with Sony’s TriStar Pictures that will see the author adapting her own novels.
Deadline broke the news, noting that it was a “seven figure deal,” and Jemisin herself shared the story on Twitter (further down the thread, she joyfully emphasised the part about “the author will adapt the books herself”).

Sony Pictures Entertainment is heading to the world of
The Broken Earth, and it s enlisted author and series creator N.K. Jemisin to adapt the series into film for TriStar Pictures (via Deadline). TriStar Pictures came out of a bidding battle victorious to bring the popular science fiction trilogy to the big screen, and Jemisin will adapt all of her books to film, including
The Fifth Season,
The Obelisk Gate, and
The Stone Sky. Each entry in the series won the Hugo Award for Best Novel, and VP of Creative Production Shary Shirazi and Creative Executive Rikki Jarrett will oversee the project for TriStar Pictures.
