Shooting in downtown Akron sends teen to hospital

AKRON, Ohio A 19-year-old male was wounded in the leg in a shooting downtown just south of the University of Akron, police say.
Police say officers were called to the 600 block of Allyn Street just after 1:15 p.m. Sunday when residents reported hearing several shots fired. Two cars and several homes were struck by gunshots, police say.
Police say they learned the victim drove himself to Summa Health Akron City Hospital. The teen tells police he was wounded when two males got out of a black car on Allyn Street and began firing. Investigators believe “multiple” people were firing at each other.
Shooting in West Akron wounds woman, 33

AKRON, Ohio A 33-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after she was shot in the West Akron neighborhood, according to police.
Officers found the victim with a wound to the shoulder on the 500 block of Hoye Avenue at at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. She was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital and her wound was not life-threatening, police say.
The victim tells police she was involved in a dispute with an unknown woman when she was shot. No arrests have been made but shell casings were recovered.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Two Akron DoorDash drivers were carjacked at gunpoint, and police believe the crimes could be connected to a string of carjackings in Cleveland.
âThey were young kids,â one victim told the 911 operator. âThey had guns. They had big like semi-automatic type of guns.â
At around 9 P.M. on Monday, a 50-year-old Akron woman says she was parked outside her home on Herberich Avenue waiting for her husband. She said she had been delivering DoorDash orders earlier that night.
Woman’s car stolen at gunpoint in South Akron

AKRON, Ohio A woman who was sitting in her parked car Monday night in the South Akron neighborhood had the vehicle stolen at gunpoint, according to police.
The 50-year-old victim called police to the 1100 block of Herberich Avenue at about 9 p.m. Police say that as she was sitting her black 2020 Honda Civic, a white SUV pulled up behind her.
Two males, believed to be between 15 and 19 years old, got out of their vehicle and walked up to the Civic. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the woman and demanded she get out of the car. Once she was out, a male got into the Civic and drove off.
