As Uplift has been doing its own equity work this summer, we learned Peak Street was named for Junius father, Jefferson Peak, who was a Dallas pioneering landowner. Junius Street is named for Junius. 2-year-old killed after being ejected from car during crash on I-30 in Old East Dallas
The crash happened after the driver of the car swerved to avoid hitting another car, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said.
A 2-year-old was killed after being ejected from a car during a crash Wednesday night in Old East Dallas, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said.
Around 10:30 p.m., a car was driving in the left lane in the 4200 block of East R.L Thornton Freeway when it swerved to avoid hitting another car.
As it was trying to avoid the other car, it hit a red HOV arrow, drove across all lanes of traffic and across the grassy median, and stopped on the right side of the highway near the exit ramp to Peak Street, department spokesman Raul Reyna said.

Hastings County staff are recommending council enroll in a Belleville police program intended to create a registry of security cameras.
City police have asked the county to take part in the Camsafe program. County staff say the program does not involve increased surveillance and involves no cost to the county.
