Nearly a week after its start, the Pinnacle Fire moved steadily north and burned more than 15,800 acres as of Wednesday.
The fire has grown by 2,747 acres since Tuesday, and its cause has remained under investigation. The blaze is burning about 38 miles west of Safford.
As the fire moves through the wilderness, structure protection remains critical, according to a video update by Brad Johnson, operations section chief of the U.S. Forest Service for Coronado National Forest.
South of the Black Rock Ranch on Monday night, the fire moved northward toward ranch property, according to the Pinnacle Fire information page.

Ducey wants $100M for wildfires

Gov. Doug Ducey is making it official, calling lawmakers into special session to finance the costs of fighting the current crop of wildland fires and the flood mitigation that will have to follow.
And press aide C.J. Karamargin said his boss wants them to approve $100 million when the session formally convenes on Tuesday to accomplish those goals.
