An earlier version of this story included incorrect venue information and did not make clear the Jimmie Dyess Symposium is an online-only event. The Chronicle regrets the error.
The 11th annual Jimmie Dyess Symposium begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, but instead of drawing it s usual crowd at the Augusta Museum of History, this year s celebration will be a virtual one, available on the museum s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Honorees will be Doug Hastings, Terry Elam and Medal of Honor recipient Mike Rose. Those honored at the annual symposium receive the Distinguished American Award.
Museum Executive Director Nancy Glaser said the virtual celebration will include interviews with each honoree, which were filmed separately with retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Perry Smith, who assists in organizing the event and acts as the master of ceremonies.

On Jan. 4, only 341 single family detached homes in all price categories were for sale in El Paso County. Also listed that day were eight patio homes, 34 townhomes and 16 condos.
Harry Salzman, ERA Shields/Salzman Real Estate Services, pulled that data from the Colorado Multiple Listing Service.
In a county with a population currently estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau at more than 720,000, those figures reveal that homes are getting snapped up.
Another way to look at the local home market is months-supply data â the number of months it would take for current inventory on the market to sell, given the current pace.
