Native America Calling: IAIA’s Museum of Contemporary Native Arts leaps ahead Your National Electronic Talking Circle Wednesday, July 14, 2021 The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe just received its largest donation ever. The $3 million unrestricted donation comes from MacKenzie Scott and her husband Dan Jewett, and was among the 286 gifts to help change the narrative about people struggling against inequities. The gift follows a $1.7 million grant from the Ford Foundation in 2020. The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was the recipient of a $3 million gift from philanthropists MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett. The Water & Tribes Initiative found the Navajo Nation and other tribes in the Colorado River Basin are up to 67 times more likely to lack running water compared to other Americans. Researchers recommend sustainable and comprehensive water projects with assistance from the federal agencies to address the long-standing problem. Native America Calling: Worthy of the hall of fame

Some of the new inductees into the National Native American Hall of Fame this year include entrepreneur Dave Anderson (Chippewa), former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (Northern Cheyenne) and Emil Notti (Athabascan) the first president of the Alaska Federation of Natives. The award is an opportunity to educate the general public about notable Native Americans and their contributions.
