A MOTORIST who crashed while high on drink and drugs, killing his housemate, has been jailed for six years. Ionut Dumitru was driving a new grey BMW 5 Series southbound on the A21 London Road, at Flimwell, when he left the carriageway and collided with a tree. The deadly crash, which happened in the early hours of December 14, killed his front seat passenger and friend, Marius-Madalin Bizoi, aged 24. The pair lived together at an address in Heartenoak Road, Hawkhurst, Kent, and had been travelling towards a petrol station to buy cigarettes when the crash happened. Several other motorists stopped to help after the crash, which left the silver BMW almost unrecognisable.

A man has died after a vehicle crashed into a tree close to Tunbridge Wells.

Sussex Police were called at 3.17am yesterday.
The passenger died at the scene and inquiries are ongoing to establish his identity and for next of kin to be informed.
The driver left the vehicle and officers, assisted by the police helicopter, conducted an area search. He was arrested arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to hospital.
