Only three areas in Quezon City will be allowed to light fireworks amid its ordinance that prohibits firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in a bid to prevent the further spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The local government on Tuesday said the areas where fireworks display will be held on the New Year’s Eve are Quezon Memorial Circle, Eastwood City, and Araneta City.
The local government added that no crowd will be allowed in the said venues as the fireworks will be shown virtually to those who want to watch them.
The move was made in line with the local government’s ordinance which bans the use of firecrackers in public places to prevent building up a crowd which could lead to further COVID-19 infections. As of Tuesday, there are still 1,443 active cases in the city.
