Many are in mourning right now, following the passing of the honourable Thomas R. Berger, who left this world last week at the age of 88 years old.
Thomas was an attorney, who was well known for his representation of the Nisga’a Nation during the monumental Calder Case that eventually lead to recognition of Aboriginal rights and title.
Tonight, we honour the legacy Berger left behind with help from Nisga’a Lisims Government President, Eva Clayton, who will tell us more about his impact on the community, and country as a whole.

The elected leadership of the Nisga’a Lisims Government issued a statement condoning vandalism at an oolichan camp located at Red Bluff.
The Nisga’a Government is asking that if anyone knows who the perpetrators are to report them to the RCMP.
In a statement President Eva Clayton said, “The act is a very intolerable and serious offence. We can all appreciate the personal investment by the camp operator and such a heinous act should not be tolerated anywhere within Nisga’a traditional territories.”
Anyone with information can contact the Lisims Nass Valley RCMP at 250-633-2222.
