Greece Death Said to be Homicide | NewsRadio WHAM 1180

Dec 30, 2020 Greece Police say a suspicious death investigation is now a homicide investigation. Police identified the victim as 36-year-old Ottilia Piros. She was found shot to death in the kitchen of her home on West Parkway after police went to the home for a check the welfare call. She had been shot in the head. No arrests have been made at this time, but Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe says investigators are working around the clock. Forsythe says they believe the incident occured sometime on Monday. Police say they aren t ready to speak on a possible motive in the case or if they have any persons of interest.

The woman’s mother called police around 8:45 a.m. after she had not heard from her daughter for several days and asked officers to check on her. Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe said the woman’s body was found on the kitchen floor. Police have not identified her yet, but said she was in her mid-30s.

(WHEC)   The Greece Police Department is investigating a suspicious death on West Parkway after a woman was found dead in her kitchen with blood around her body.  Acting Chief Drew Forsythe says that police received a call around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday from the woman s mother, saying she hadn t heard from her in days. A welfare check was conducted, and the woman was found dead in the home s kitchen. Police have not identified the victim but did say she was 36 years old.  While few details have been given, Forsythe said there was blood around the woman s body. They are awaiting additional warrants and the Medical Examiner to further investigate the home.

Town of Greece names Drew Forsythe new police chief

The town of Greece is getting a new police chief. Supervisor Bill Reilich says that the current chief, Patrick Phelan, who has held that job since 2014, will be retiring effective Dec. 31. Phelan has also been serving as the President of the NYS Association of Chiefs, and when he leaves the Greece police department, he will be named executive director of that association. The town board on Thursday approved the appointment of Drew Forsythe as the new Chief of Police. Forsythe is currently the deputy chief of operations and special services for the Greece Police Department. Prior to coming to Greece, Forsythe was the Monroe County Undersheriff. He was with that department from 1991 until 2017.
