Fernando Alonso does not believe he was shown the respect he deserved for his F1 podiums with Ferrari, underlined by the response to fellow countryman Carlos Sainz s second place in Monaco.
Two-time champion Alonso has scored 32 race wins and 97 podiums in his career, with 11 of those victories and 32 additional top-three finishes during his five years with Ferrari.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff revealed his team reacted with “brutal honesty and transparency” after failing to provide Lewis Hamilton with the car he needed in F1 qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hamilton will start the race from a shock seventh place on the grid after heading in the wrong direction with his car set up ahead of the all-important Saturday qualifying session.

Wolff explained: “We didn t get things right. We need to analyse that but one thing is for sure, all of us together, we were not competitive [and] haven t done a good enough job.

Fernando Alonso is confident his disastrous qualifying session in Monaco is a “one-off” after blaming traffic and a lack of grip for being knocked out of Q1 for the first time with Alpine.
Alonso, who returned to F1 this season after two years away, had started to find his feet again in his fifth race weekend back but his positive feeling in the car turned into disappointment at the crucial moment.

“It was a good weekend up to qualifying in terms of how I felt,” he said. “I was more competitive in practice but in qualifying, the tyres were not easy to put the temperature in and both attempts were a little bit affected by traffic, out lap and things.
