Still reeling from the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, bankers and investors in Scotland are now facing the prospect of ‘Scexit’ – a split from the UK – following the Scottish National Party’s fourth victory in the Holyrood elections.
In a dramatic weekend for UK politics, Nicola Sturgeon said there is “no democratic justification whatsoever for Boris Johnson or anyone else seeking to block the right of the people of Scotland to choose our future”, leaving financiers asking themselves if they are ready for a break-up that could make Brexit feel like an appetiser.

LONDON, May 7 (Reuters) - Activist investor Edward Bramson
has sold his firm s 6% stake in Barclays, disbanding a
three-year effort to overhaul the British bank and ending a
stand-off with chief executive Jes Staley.
Bramson s fund, Sherborne Investors, had pressured Staley
since 2018 to scale back investment banking and demanded his
removal over his links to U.S. financier and registered sex
offender Jeffrey Epstein, but Bramson struggled to gain much
traction.
The value of the Sherborne vehicle dedicated to the Barclays
stake has fallen by around 150 million pounds ($209 million)
compared to the 700 million pounds it raised when it was formed

Gil Steeves and her husband Ian Gordon spent Wednesday morning waiting for groceries to be delivered to their hotel room at the Hilton in Saint John.
The couple checked in Tuesday evening to begin their mandatory isolation stay.
The seven day minimum stay wasn t part of their original itinerary when they began planning to move to her home province from Staten Island, NY.
The couple was in Maine and was registered to cross into New Brunswick this week when they heard that all non-essential travelers now had to stay at a hotel regardless of a previously approved isolation plan.

People moving to New Brunswick are searching for answers on how to properly self-isolate as a hotel quarantine requirement is set to take effect.
Ian Gordon and Gil Steeves had already made it from New York City to Maine when new travel rules put their plans in jeopardy.
They say they are discouraged and searching for answers on how to proceed.
