LIVERPOOL MANAGER Jurgen Klopp admits the 2-0 win over Southampton kept their Champions League qualification hopes alive but knows there is plenty more still to do if they are to sneak into the top four.
Klopp’s side stumbled over the line against Saints for only a second league win at Anfield in 2021 thanks to Sadio Mane’s first-half header and Thiago Alcantara’s first goal for the club in the 90th minute.
LONDON (REUTERS) - Deflected goals from Christian Benteke and Eberechi Eze gave Crystal Palace a 2-0 win at relegated Sheffield United on Saturday (May 8), snapping a run of three league defeats for the London club and guaranteeing their top-flight status next season.
The visitors took the lead in the second minute when Eze carved the Blades open with a mazy run and slid the ball to Benteke, whose effort bounced off George Baldock and dribbled over the line.
Wilfried Zaha had an effort from close range blocked before Benteke was denied a second when his powerful header was only just kept out by United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

RIO FERDINAND is expecting further fan protests and believes the tribal divisions between supporters are being set aside in a common cause – to force club owners to listen.
His old club Manchester United’s match against Liverpool was postponed on Sunday after a peaceful planned protest escalated into violence and an invasion of the Old Trafford pitch.
Ferdinand did not condone the violence which left police officers injured, but understood where the discontent has come from, and why it is likely such protests will be repeated.
“I’m with the fans,” he told Vibe with Five.
“We don’t want violence and I’m not condoning violence or any type of lawbreaking at all, but these fans have been shunted aside (and told) ‘you’re not a thought, you’re not a consideration’.

SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): A Singaporean teenager has been charged in court after threatening to kill football player Neal Maupay who is a forward with Brighton in the English Premier League.
The court on Monday (May 3) heard that Derek Ng De Ren, now 19, is also accused of threatening to kill the footballer s family.
The player and his family were in Britain when the threats were made in June and July last year.
According to earlier reports, the Premier League had alerted the Singapore Police Force after its investigations showed that the person responsible for the serious online abuse towards Maupay was in Singapore.
