Col. Jack Jackson
SIKESTON One of the most decorated Marine Corps aviators of the Vietnam War will serve as the honored guest and speaker at the Memorial Day ceremony May 31 in Sikeston.
Set to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Sikeston Veterans Park, the honored guest and speaker is Col. Jack Jackson, who is the recipient of 33 air medals, four distinguished flying cross and the Navy commendation for valor.
Local veterans from the American Legion VFW along with the Sikeston Veterans Park Committee will participate in the service. Melissa Rhodes will perform the National Anthem and Ethan Bartlett will perform Taps. Sikeston Mayor Greg Turnbo will make a special presentation. After the service, the American Legion Auxiliary will provide lunch for veterans and their families at the Legion Post located on South Kingshighway. In the event of rain, the program will move to the First Christian Church in Sikeston.
