Six appeals Cumbria Police are appealing for information on this week in Cumbria

We ve rounded up the latest appeals that were sent out from this week. Workington Police have appealed for information after a burglary in Workington. The incident happened at a lock-up between Griffin Street and Brow Top between April 9 and 12. Carlisle The incident, at the venue near the Eden Bridge, happened on April 2, at 8pm. The full appeal can be found here. Kendal Police are investigating a public order offence that occurred on the Kendal Business Park at 11am on April 12. It was reported that a male in his 40s, subjected the victim to a tirade of verbal abuse whilst the victim was leaving the estate in his vehicle. It is believed that this incident was witnessed by several people.

Part guide, part love letter, “ ” is a new series in which we celebrate where we’re from. After all, it could still be a while before we can go anywhere else… When I tell people I live in Carlisle, I usually add that I was born in India, grew up in Northumbria, and “worked in London for a long time”. Sometimes I throw in that I only moved back here a few years ago because the rest of my family refuse to leave.

Carlisle residents encouraged fight vandalism

Graffiti defacing an historic Carlisle underpass has been removed. However, the problem of vandalism in the city continues and the Carlisle City Council is urging people to come forward to identify those responsible. Former city MP Eric Martlew contacted the police and Carlisle City Council after discovering the damage on masonry and tile-work beneath Eden Bridge. The daubed slogans which included some describing the pandemic as a ‘hoax’. The underpass ­ which links Bitts Park and Rickerby Park ­ is a legally protected Grade 1 listed structure. The graffiti has now been cleaned off the subway, but remains on the Eden Bridge walls.

The Eden Benchmarks :: Geograph Britain and Ireland

by Michael Earnshaw The Eden Benchmarks form a set of ten sculptures, by ten different artists, close to (or in two cases overlooking) the River Eden in Cumbria. They were commissioned and installed by the East Cumbria Countryside Project (ECCP) to mark the millennium. Working downstream, as seems natural, the first is high above Mallerstang near the source of the river, and the last is at Rockcliffe, north-west of Carlisle, just before the river flows into the Solway Firth.
