PORTSMOUTH A city police officer decided, without authorization, to temporarily change the newly realigned intersection at Cate and Bartlett streets, police acknowledged.
“A police officer did move some cones and barrels to see if the traffic flow was more smooth,” police Capt. Darrin Sargent said.
The cones and barrels at the recently redesigned intersection have been returned to their previous positions. Sargent declined to name the officer who made the alterations, saying the matter was being handled internally.
City Public Works Director Peter Rice acknowledged the actions were caught on video because traffic there is being recorded to see how the new realigned intersection is working.
