ISLAMABAD: A complainant has withdrawn a petition filed against ‘highhandedness’ of Islamabad police officials who raided her house at mid-night without warrants and lady constables.
IHC Chief Justice on April 16 directed the inspector general of Islamabad police to conduct an inquiry against the officials who violated the sanctity of home, trespassed on a house at mid-night and detained housewife and her five daughters for a couple of hours.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah also sought report in a fortnight from the inspector general of police, deputy commissioner and the station house officer of the police station Koral on a petition of a Noshaba Usman as she accused that unidentified uniformed and plain-clothed officials barged into her house located in Bahria Town at mid-night without warra

An iron fence has been built around the perimeter of the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah along Islamabad Expressway to ensure its safety, besides giving it a new look.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) installed the safety grill by adding new features in golden colour to highlight the history and culture of Pakistan, a senior official of the authority told the media on Wednesday.

The accurate and well-timed use of indicators is a vital precondition for safe driving. Regrettably, this is not the case on Rawalpindi roads. All vehicles are fitted with indicators with an explicit aim. They are designed to be used by drivers to convey to other road users what they plan to do with the vehicle. They guarantee improved communication on road and general safety.
“Indicator lights are placed at the front, rear and sometimes one on either side of the car, subject to the kind of vehicle. They are used to show an anticipated change of direction, either turning left or right. They need to be used sensibly to permit drivers behind to react. Once the objective is realised, they should be switched off to avert misunderstanding but a few Pindiites do it,” says Najamul Hasan.
Graana.com Revamps H-8 Bridge with Truck Art
Graana.com, in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), has revamped the H-8 bridges located on the Islamabad Expressway to enhance the beauty of the city.
The painting of bridges on the ‘truck art theme’ is being carried out under the ‘Light up Islamabad’ initiative, aimed at revamping the federal capital.
While speaking on the occasion, CDA Member Finance Rana Shakeel informed that the civic authority has decorated two overhead bridges while the remaining bridges will be painted soon.
The member finance further said that the beautification work has also been started at the major underpasses of the city while the same beautification work will also be started at Srinagar Highway.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar s aide Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said that miscreants armed with petrol bombs attacked the Nawankot Police Station, taking 12 policemen hostage and leaving six injured.
Sharing a statement by the Lahore police, she said that owing to the attack, in which the attackers used petrol bombs and bottles of acid, Rangers and police personnel were trapped inside the police station.
The miscreants held the deputy superintendent of police hostage at gunpoint, along with 11 other policemen, and drove them to their markaz (comprising a mosque and madrassah) nearby.
Aside from attacking the police station and kidnapping officials, the miscreants also stole an oil tanker carrying 50,000 litres of petrol, she said.
