(Newport Beach Police Photo) LAGUNA BEACH, CA Laguna Beach Police joined the Newport Beach Police Department in focusing on loud and modified vehicle exhaust this summer. A large group of coastal police and sheriff s department agencies conducted a successful noise enforcement operation over the weekend. The departments pulled over a total of 445 cars with loud/modified vehicle exhaust and street racing. The purpose, they say, is to quell the growing, negative impact on the safety of residents and quality of life for those who live, work and play in Orange County s coastal towns.

By City News Service May 5, 2021 IRVINE (CNS) - A 76-year-old man diagnosed with dementia who was reported missing after last being seen in Irvine was found this morning. Armando “Gabby Vasquez was last seen about 3 p.m. Tuesday near LA Fitness at the intersection of Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway, according to the Irvine Police Department. About 12:40 a.m., a patrol sergeant showed a citizen a photo of Vasquez and the person recognized the missing man and helped lead to his whereabouts, the department said. Vasquez was found in good condition and was reunited with his family, police said. An exact location where Vasquez was found was not disclosed.

By City News Service Prisoner IRVINE (CNS) - A 42-year-old Irvine man was behind bars today on suspicion of killing his wife, who he was convicted of beating last year, police said. Yunlong Bai called his probation officer at about 1 p.m. Tuesday to report that he killed his 33-year-old wife, Chao Chen, according to Sgt. Karie Davies of the Irvine Police Department. The suspect waited for police at his residence on Red Apple Court in Irvine, Davies said. The victim ``had signs of trauma, Davies said, declining to be more specific. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for next week, she said.
