Come Boating! Winter Adventure Series talks with Doug Welch Event Location:  Event has passed Come Boating! Belfast’s Community Boating Organization and the Belfast Free Library are teaming up once again to offer the Winter Adventure Series. This year the series of three evening programs about adventures on the water will be offered virtually. The first program, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 6:30 p.m., will feature a presentation by Doug Welch, executive director of The Maine Island Trail Association (MITA). Welch will show his film To Row and Let Go, about his experiences with ocean rowing, building a boat at the legendary Wooden Boat School, and exploring 34 islands on the Maine Island Trail.

United Way Receives $56,506 From Genesis Alkali Employees

ROCK SPRINGS  Employees of Genesis Alkali and United Steelworkers local 13214 pledged $56,506 through the United Way of Southwest Wyoming workplace campaign. Funds raised support community programs centered around education, health and basic needs. “United Way of Southwest Wyoming makes it easy for companies to support local nonprofits. By offering payroll deduction to our employees, they can support their community, whether they live in Sweetwater County or Uinta County. By giving them the opportunity to give smaller amounts over time, that adds up to make a big impact on our communities,” said David Caplan, Director of Corporate Communications, Genesis Alkali.
