We are just coming out of Mental Health Awareness Month. But one local family is doing what it can do to keep it in the spotlight, after dealing with a family tragedy. Mike Frey from Sullivan, Indiana lost his 18-year-old son, Cade Frey, to suicide last November. People who knew Cade said he was the kind of person that lit up any room he was in. Now, his father is taking a stance to promote mental health. He wants to use his story to remind others they are not alone.

Del Norte LOV Foundation Announces Inaugural 2021 Spring Cycle Community Grant-Making Program Recipients Del Norte LOV Foundation News: The Del Norte LOV (Living Our Vision) Foundation, an independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization associated with Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), has announced the five nonprofit organization recipients of its inaugural 2021 Spring Cycle Del Norte LOV Foundation Community Grant-Making Program. Each nonprofit organization grantee will receive $2,500 in charitable funds toward their programming.  “Giving back in a big way is in our DNA the Foundation’s grant-making initiative is just another way we fulfill our purpose to be a reliable and trusted partner in the communities we serve”, said Deb Salazar, Del Norte LOV Foundation Board President/Chief Experience Officer at DNCU. 

Waterford children and young people honoured at annual Divisional Garda Youth Awards

Special Award winner, Saoirse Mullaney Young people, community groups, and clubs across Waterford were honoured at the Divisional Garda Youth Awards last night The ceremony which took place virtually saw awards being handed out across a wide range of categories Category winners and the overall winner were revealed in an online ceremony. Childerian Choir were recognised for their work in addressing Youth Suicide Prevention. The winner of the Special Award category was 13-year-old Ballygunner girl, Saoirse Mullaney. Saoirse suffers with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. But Inspector Gavin Hegarty says she hasn’t let that hold her back: “She has gone on to achieve some amazing things. She was National Champion in 2018 and 2019 in Taekwondo. She won gold at the UK ITF International Championships in Crawley in 2019.
