AN INTERNATIONAL model from Guilsfield has featured in a major new BBC TV drama as he takes the first steps into an acting career. Bertie Jones, a former Guilsfield Primary School and Llanfyllin High School pupil, had a non-speaking role in chilling true-crime series The Serpent, currently showing on BBC One. Commissioned by the BBC, the show was co-produced with Netflix. Set in Asia and featuring ex-Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman, the drama, set in the 1970s, was shot in Bangkok last year and tells the true story of French serial killer Charles Sobhraj. Coleman plays Marie-Andrée Leclerc, Sobhraj’s girlfriend.

Sarah, Duchess of York has been writing children’s books and nonfiction for years, but today HarperCollins announced her debut historical romance,
Her Heart for a Compass, will be published this summer.
Coming 3 August from Mills & Boon in the UK and William Morrow in the United States, the novel is a fictional account of the life of Sarah’s great-great-aunt, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott.
“I have long held a passion for historical research and telling the stories of strong women in history through film and television,” Sarah, Duchess of York said. “I am proud to bring my personal brand of historical fiction to the publishing world.”

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has written her first novel for adults, to be released by the leading romantic fiction publisher Mills & Boon.
Her Heart for a Compass is based on the life of the duchess s great-great-aunt, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott.
She has previously written children s books, non-fiction about Queen Victoria, and her own memoirs.
She said: I am proud to bring my personal brand of historical fiction to the publishing world. It all started with researching my ancestry. Digging into the history of the Montagu-Douglas Scotts, I first came across Lady Margaret, who intrigued me because she shared one of my given names, she added.

The Duchess of York has signed a book deal with British publisher Mills & Boon – which has engrossed readers with tales of love for more than 100 years. The historical book is called “Her Heart For A Compass” and is set for release this summer. Fergie, 61, says she drew on many parallels from my life when writing her debut novel.
