Young Rock, based on the life of wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, is something else altogether. It begins on a fictional springboard – Johnson being interviewed as a US presidential candidate in 2032 – but then leaps into three very real parts of his life: as a 10-year-old in Hawaii, as a high-school student in Pennsylvania and as a college student and football player at the University of Miami. Johnson stars in the series as himself, alongside Adrian Groulx (as the 10-year-old Johnson), Bradley Constant (as the 15-year-old Johnson) and Uli Latukefu (as the 18-year-old Johnson). DCâs Legends of Tomorrow couldnât get any crazier, the show kicks it up a notch. Between giant Beeboâs to unicorns, aliens and more, the underdog Arrowverse show often takes things to the next level. Although he was portrayed as a villain, he was a hero in my family because it was the first time we saw someone who sounded like us.
