NURSE: ASIFUNI IVACCINE! President of Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union, Lerato Mthunzi.
THE vaccine has finally arrived in Mzansi and healthcare workers are first in line to get the jab.
But nurses are not happy about this.
A nurse based at Carletonville Clinic said she was not going to take the jab as they were not told about the side effects.
“I think the Department of Health is dropping the ball big time. We’re expected to roll with the punches, but we were not given the right information yet we are expected to administer the vaccine.
“Patients will have questions on what to expect after vaccination and we don’t know anything about the vaccine. We are scared to take it,” she said.

Johannesburg - The Gauteng Department of Health has issued Tembisa Hospital chief executive Dr Lekopane Mogaladi with a notice of suspension after Health Ombudsman Professor Malegapuru Makgobaâs damning report published last week.
Mogaladi has five days to furnish the department with reasons why he should not be suspended, said Gauteng Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi.
Mokgethi said they had issued the suspension notice to Mogaladi in line with Makgobaâs recommendations after he found that there was gross medical negligence at the hands of doctors, nurses and food handlers, leading to the avoidable death of patient Shonisani Lethole.

Johannesburg â The Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union says it rejects the findings of Health Ombudsman Professor Malegapuru Makgoba, saying the report aims to absolve the Gauteng Health Department and to scapegoat nurses, doctors, clinical associates and food handlers instead.
Makgobaâs report found that there had been gross medical negligence at Tembisa Hospital, leading to the avoidable death of 34-year-old Shonisani Lethole, who went a cumulative 100 hours without being fed at the hospital.
The ombud recommended disciplinary action be taken against the hospitalâs chief executive, Dr Lekopane Mogaladi, who has been served with a notice of suspension and has been given five days to furnish reasons why he should not be suspended.
