One of the most common mistakes I see entrepreneurs make as their businesses begin to grow is confusing the concept of delegation with the concept of abdication.
Delegation is the managed transference of responsibility of a job, task, project or target to another person in the organisation. Abdication, on the other hand, is the view that when you assign something to someone else, from here on out it is their problem. Abdications rarely feature a handover or expectation. They often come with an attitude of: now it’s your problem, so I can get back to whizzing around, shooting from the hip and dealing with all the urgent – but often not so important – things I need to get done.
Eleven young enterprising Africans, among them two Nigerians, who have been named Young Global Leaders (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF) for 2021, are to benefit from the Aliko Dangote Fellowship endowed to support African Young Global Leaders.
The beneficiaries are among 112 persons under 40 years of age, selected as Young Global Leaders by WEF, from across 56 countries.
The two Nigerians, Dr. Abasi Ene-Obong, founder, 54gene and Obi Ozor, the founder of Kobo360, joined the ranks of past Nigerian winners, Ambassador Debo Adesina, former Editor-in Chief of the Guardian Newspapers and current Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, and Mr. Simon Kolawole, CEO of Cable Newspapers Ltd.
World Economic Forum has honored global recognition to the CEO and Founder of DASARAN Educational Platform, Suren Aloyan as a Young Global Leader 2021.

Gunhild A. Stordalen is the founder and executive chair of EAT. She is a driving force in linking climate, health and sustainability issues across sectors to transform the global food system.
Together with her husband Petter A. Stordalen, Gunhild established the Stordalen Foundation in 2011, under which she later founded the EAT Initiative together with Professor Johan Rockström and the Stockholm Resilience Center (SRC). In 2014, they gathered 400 leaders from 28 countries for the inaugural EAT Stockholm Food Forum. In 2016, the Wellcome Trust joined the SRC and the Stordalen Foundation as core partner of EAT and helped grow the initiative to become a global multi-stakeholder platform for transforming the world’s food system.
